A Canyonlands Christmas
Julie and I spent Christmas on trail with a group of students in the canyons around Moab. We decorated a tree and and when I explained to the students that we should do a gift exchange one snotted back at me, "yeah, like you are going to drive us to the store to pick something out!" I looked across the circle where we were all seated on the ground with legs crossed. A small candle flickered in the middle of us all and only barely lighted our faces. I sent a blank expression directly at him. "Oh," he realized, "you want us to make something."

A simple look from a wise (young) sage, John, has impact!
