Spring Hatch
Spring broke long enough to make a run from the city. I packed the 4 piece fly rod neatly into my backpack, hopped on the bike and pedaled to the next county. The Schuylkill River multi-use path begins in Philadelphia and winds 140 miles northwest to the headwaters of the Schuylkill river. The path is still under construction but once complete will create a non-motorized link between Appalachian Trail and the Delaware River in Philadelphia.
After 2 hours and 22 miles of biking I met the confluence of Valley Creek and the Schuylkill River in Valley Forge National Historic Park The stream whispered slowly down from the valley and I tied on for the first cast of the season.
