Zion Canyon NP

Last week a few of us at A.C.E were sent to Zion to learn how to rig skylines and haul systems for use with trail construction.
A mule team met us on trail to help haul 2,ooo pounds of gear.

We climbed "Cave Crack" (a.k.a. Clint's crack) which is the easiest route on the Cerberus Gendarme Wall. Clint Eastwood climbed this route in the movie "The Eiger Sanction." It is my small and very obscure connection to climbing fame.

We made a quick decent of Keyhole Canyon. The guidebook recommends wetsuits but we figured we could do the 2 hour decent in about 45 minutes. 100 feet above us out the top of the canyon the sun baked the rim in 103 degree heat while down in the slot we swam through near freezing water.

John Braun snapped this picture and the video on the way down.
